School Admissions
Nursery class children come to either a morning or afternoon session starting in September. They must have their fourth birthday during the school year.
Usually, the children have attended the Cylch Meithrin in the Integrated Centre on the school grounds. The Cylch is under the patronage of the Mudiad Ysgolion Meithrin, and is a good opportunity for the children to socialise and hear the Welsh language.
The County Council, being the Local Education Authority, will be responsible for deciding pupils’ admission arrangements for each primary school. The LEA will conform with the statutory requirements and acknowledge parental choice in fulfilling its duty to ensure effective education and appropriate use of educational resources. Ysgol Glan Morfa’s Entry number is 37.
The Local Education Authority operates a catchment area policy and it is expected that children attend the school in which catchment area they live in. Each school has its own catchment area and official maps which show the catchment area of each school can be seen in the Education Offices.
The LEA permits parents of children who wish them to be educated through the medium of Welsh to express their choice of school. Children are accepted into full time education in the reception class if they have their fifth birthday during the school year.
It is expected that older children who apply for a place at the school are fluent in Welsh, but we are able to organise a placement in the Welsh Centre which is located at Ysgol Dolgarrog.
Parents
If parents wish to visit the school, we kindly ask that they sign the Visitor Book in the main entrance.
If you would like to speak to a class teacher or the Headteacher, please contact the school to arrange a meeting at a convenient time. Parents will be invited to attend a parent meeting to discuss their child’s educational development and to see their work on a termly basis.
